Power flushing is a process of using high velocity but yet low pressure to clean the system without causing any damage in the process and chemicals are used to aid this process.

Why do it?
Heating systems when not looked after or installed correctly can have problems where sludge is generated. The sludge often collects in the radiators and boiler where the water velocity slows. The sludge is metallic and attracted to the magnetic fields in pumps. This can cause the following symptoms:
• Central heating system may be slow to heat up
• Premature failure of pumps and heating equipment
• Warranty calls turned down by equipment manufacturers
• Cold or cool radiators / frequent bleeding required
• Noisy boilers
• Higher fuel bills

What can be done if it's in my heating system?
The system can be cleaned using chemicals and then treated to prevent the problem reoccurring, however poorly designed or installed system may lead to the symptoms eventually returning unless rectified.

Many boiler manufacturers insist that the system is power flushed in order that their warranty is valid!
